When you buy kratom online, you’ll likely find that it gets sorted by the color of the veins. The most well-known categories of kratom include all of the following:
Along with red kratom and white kratom, green kratom is among the most popular types in the world. Green vein kratom gets its names because the veins and stems are almost the exact same shade of green as the rest of the leaves.
Effects of Green Vein Kratom
The most important thing people consider when choosing a strain of kratom is the strain’s alkaloid content. Kratom has two primary alkaloids that give it the properties people are interested in, and those alkaloids are mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine. Before you can truly understand what to expect from your kratom experience, it’s important to know what alkaloids are.
Scientifically speaking, an alkaloid is a plant-based organic compound that contains nitrogen and produces a physiological effect on human beings or other animals. If a natural compound isn’t known or believed to produce an effect on humans or animals, it is not technically considered to be an alkaloid. One of the things that makes kratom so exciting is the way in which kratom’s alkaloids interact with the human body.
The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association has released research indicating that the alkaloids in kratom can interact with a human body’s opioid receptors. These alkaloids interact with receptors similarly to pharmaceutical drugs for inflammation and pain, including ibuprofen, oxycodone, fentanyl, and tramadol. Since kratom is a completely natural product, people are extremely interested in its ability to interact with the body in ways similar to potentially harmful pharmaceutical drugs.
For years, researchers thought that mitragynine was the only active alkaloid in kratom. Now we’re realising that 7-hydroxymitragynine may be even more significant. The reason it took a while for this discovery is that all strains of kratom offer much more mitragynine than 7-hydroxymitragynine.
Green vein kratom typically offers less 7-hydroxymitragynine than red kratom, but more than white kratom. This makes it appealing to many people who want a balanced kratom strain. Some have also said that green kratom is their recommended type for people who are new to kratom or people who want a moderate kratom experience, especially during the daytime.
Types of Green Kratom
Kratom plants grow naturally in Southeast Asia, and different strains have originated all over that region. At this point, though, about 95% of our kratom in the United States comes from Borneo’s South Kalimantarian region. For that reason, different green kratom strains are all very similar to each other. Most kratom customers say they only switch to a new green vein kratom strain after they’ve gotten too used to their previous strain to enjoy it like they used to.
The different strains of green kratom may be from slightly different plants, or they may simply be from different types of harvests in different locations. Here at Laughing Lion Herbs, we especially like five types of green vein kratom:
- Green Bali Kratom
- Green Maeng Da Kratom
- Green Thai Kratom
- Green Hulu Kratom
- Green Malay Kratom
