HOW WE GOT STARTED…
I started Laughing Lion Herbs in early 2015. After spending 15 years in the IT and technology industry, I had finally found something I was passionate about: natural herbs. Kratom in particular held a special interest for me, and as someone who had started multiple companies in the past, I had the mindset to build something new.
When I first started, I was working out of my garage, importing 20 kilos here and 10 kilos there and trying to make enough money to reinvest into larger imports. After about 15 months of doing this myself with help from my wife, Melissa, I began our wholesale segment. The company quickly outgrew the 600-square-foot office space we were renting at the time. As we searched for a suitable facility, I brought on additional staff to help handle the growing workload.
I learned a lot during those first few years, including plenty of difficult lessons that weren't particularly kind to my stress levels. But as Laughing Lion grew, I became increasingly confident that my passion and vision for the company were becoming a reality.
One of my goals from the beginning was to make quality kratom accessible at reasonable prices without sacrificing the standards we expected from the products we sold. That philosophy helped shape Laughing Lion as we grew from a small garage operation into the company we are today.
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO
Today, Laughing Lion Herbs is based in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado, nestled against the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. From here, we serve customers through our Colorado Springs retail location and our online store.
Over the years, we have implemented extensive quality-control procedures for the handling, processing, packaging, and testing of our products. Our facility uses professional equipment, sanitation procedures, protective clothing and coverings, gloves, hair restraints, and other practices designed to help maintain product quality and cleanliness throughout our operation.
Natural botanical products can vary from batch to batch, which makes supplier relationships, testing, quality control, and consistency especially important to us. We have spent years developing relationships throughout our supply chain and refining the standards we use when evaluating the products we offer.
Laughing Lion Herbs in Castle Rock, Colorado
Laughing Lion also spent years serving customers from our former Castle Rock retail location on Factory Shops Boulevard. Although that storefront is now closed, we're grateful for the Castle Rock community that supported us, and we continue serving former Castle Rock customers online and from our Colorado Springs location.

FOUNDERS
Matthew and Melissa are the co-owners and founders of Laughing Lion Herbs. Melissa has been part of the company since its earliest days, helping with decision-making and bringing her perspective and personal touch to the business as it has grown.
Matthew works full-time leading Laughing Lion and has been involved in virtually every aspect of the company since founding it in 2015, from technology and product development to operations and customer experience. His goal has always been to build a company that treats people well and has a positive impact on everyone who comes into contact with it.
