What to check on a kratom shot label
Liquid kratom products vary in ingredients, concentration, bottle volume and serving information. Some contain concentrated kratom extract; others also contain kava or additional ingredients. A small bottle is not necessarily a single serving, and the same bottle volume does not mean the same alkaloid content.
Warning: some shots may contain added or elevated 7-OH
Some products marketed as “kratom shots” or “enhanced kratom” may contain added or elevated 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH). This is different from the naturally occurring trace amounts in kratom leaf. Concentrated 7-OH is a potent opioid and carries serious risks, including dependence, withdrawal and overdose.
In 11 years of testing our plain-leaf powder, Laughing Lion has not seen a 7-OH result above 0.01%. This describes our testing history; check the available report for your batch. Naturally occurring trace 7-OH in plain leaf differs from added or concentrated 7-OH in enhanced products. A low 7-OH result alone does not establish that a product is risk-free.
Check the complete ingredient list and a batch report that measures 7-OH. A mitragynine number alone does not establish the 7-OH content. If the composition is unclear, do not use the product until it is clarified. FDA advises avoiding 7-OH products. Read our 7-OH safety and facts guide and FDA's 7-OH information.
Extract weight is not mitragynine content
Read the distinction between milligrams of extract and milligrams of mitragynine. Those numbers are not interchangeable. A claimed equivalent amount of leaf powder is also not enough to establish the composition or an appropriate serving. Compare the actual alkaloid information and available batch report.
Our current MitWellness product information
The current M100 and M200 bottles we carry are labeled with 100 mg and 200 mg total mitragynine, respectively. Our serving policy limits mitragynine to no more than 50 mg per serving; those totals therefore require at least two and four portions, respectively. Check the product page and the bottle label for the specific version you have.
Our M300 product is the multiple-serving 15 mL dropper bottle: ten 1.5 mL servings, with 30 mg mitragynine per serving and 300 mg total. Do not treat it as a single-serving shot or replace its 30 mg serving information with instructions to consume the entire bottle.
Our 50 mg limit is a serving-policy ceiling, not a scientifically established safe dose or a reason to take repeated servings. Product formulations and labels can change. If your bottle does not match the listing, contact us before relying on the information here.
Products containing kava
A kratom-and-kava product includes more than one active botanical ingredient. Review the complete ingredient list and each ingredient's warnings. Do not assume it is equivalent to a kratom-only product or combine separate products to imitate it. See our kava product information for the products currently offered.
Manufacturing claims and batch reports
Look for specific, verifiable information about the manufacturer and the applicable testing or GMP program. Do not assume that every brand shares one manufacturer's program status. “Natural” or “chemical-free” language is not proof of purity or safety. An available laboratory report describes the tested sample and reported results; it does not guarantee individual safety or test every possible contaminant.
Important safety information
For adults 21+ only. Do not use if pregnant or nursing. Do not combine with alcohol, opioids, sedatives or other drugs. Discuss medications and medical conditions with a healthcare professional. Do not drive or operate machinery after use. Keep away from children.
Regular use can lead to dependence and withdrawal. Adverse effects and serious events have been reported in people using kratom. Other substances and incomplete information can complicate interpretation, but do not establish that kratom is risk-free. Stop use and seek medical advice for an adverse reaction. A seizure, trouble breathing or loss of consciousness requires emergency help. Kratom is not an FDA-approved treatment; our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease.
