Buying Kratom Powder: Labels, Batch Reports & Packaging

KRATOM POWDER BUYING GUIDE · ADULTS 21+

Buying kratom powder: start with the label and batch

When comparing kratom powder, look beyond a familiar strain name, attractive packaging or a claim of “premium” quality. Ask what the product contains, how its measurements are presented and whether an available laboratory report matches the batch you are buying.

What does a laboratory report tell you?

A certificate of analysis describes a tested sample and the specific measurements reported. Match the product and batch number, review the test date and identify what was tested. Alkaloid measurements and contaminant testing answer different questions. A report does not guarantee individual safety, establish that every possible contaminant was tested or prove that every bag is identical to the sample.

Ask for clarification when the report is missing, unreadable or does not match the product. Our laboratory information page explains how to request available batch reports.

Read mitragynine and 7-OH measurements carefully

A percentage, an amount per serving and a total amount in a package are different measurements. Plain-leaf powder is different from concentrated extracts or products with added or elevated 7-OH. Do not compare them by package size alone.

In 11 years of testing our plain-leaf powder, Laughing Lion has not seen a 7-OH result above 0.01%. This describes our testing history; check the available report for your batch. Naturally occurring trace 7-OH in plain leaf differs from added or concentrated 7-OH in enhanced products. A low 7-OH result alone does not establish that a product is risk-free.

Packaging should provide useful information

Check the ingredient list, net weight, serving information, warnings, batch identification and seller contact details. Inspect the seal and follow the package storage directions. Packaging appearance, a nutrition panel or the word “pure” does not establish laboratory results. If a package arrives damaged or its information is unclear, contact the seller before using it.

Understand our familiar product names

Our named blends were originally distinct formulations. Familiar names remain in the catalog to help returning customers locate their listings.

Check measurements before use

Our current powder serving guidance is 3 grams, measured with a scale. At the owner-reported typical 1.5% mitragynine content, that is approximately 45 mg of mitragynine. Actual content depends on the batch. This estimate is not a proven safe dose. See our powder measurement guide and check your label.

Important safety information

For adults 21+ only. Do not use if pregnant or nursing. Do not combine with alcohol, opioids, sedatives or other drugs. Discuss medications and medical conditions with a healthcare professional. Do not drive or operate machinery after use. Keep away from children.

Regular use can lead to dependence and withdrawal. Adverse effects and serious events have been reported in people using kratom. Other substances and incomplete information can complicate interpretation, but do not establish that kratom is risk-free. Stop use and seek medical advice for an adverse reaction or difficulty reducing use. A seizure, trouble breathing or loss of consciousness requires emergency help. Kratom is not an FDA-approved treatment; our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease.
