Colorado Kratom Advocacy: Our 2022 Hearing Announcement

The events and advocacy described below are in the past. Colorado subsequently enacted additional kratom legislation in 2025. This article is not a complete statement of current requirements.
During Colorado’s 2022 legislative session, Laughing Lion Herbs announced that owners Matthew and Melissa Frank had been invited to attend and testify in support of kratom consumer protection legislation. We shared hearing information so Colorado residents could follow the proposal and participate.
The Hearing Announcement Is Historical
The original post advertised a March 2 hearing and shared a 2022 sign-in form and Senate calendar. That hearing date and those participation instructions have passed. They are not an invitation to a current hearing.
We supported clearer consumer protections and appreciated the opportunity for business owners and consumers to contribute their experiences. Our announcement records the invitation; it does not, by itself, document that a particular testimony was delivered.
The Bill’s Later Outcome
SB22-120 became law in 2022. Colorado enacted additional kratom legislation in 2025, so readers should check current official records rather than rely on our old hearing announcement.
How to Follow Future Proposals
Visit the Colorado General Assembly to find a bill’s status, committee notices and current participation instructions. Confirm the session, hearing date, location and submission deadline before taking action. An advocacy organization can provide its perspective, while the legislature is the source for official procedures.
When sharing personal experience, distinguish it from clinical evidence. Consumer stories can inform policy discussions without proving a treatment benefit or that a product is safe for everyone.
